High Grass and Weeds
ORDINANCE NO. 2017-03-02- Section 4 (b)
This code requires that grass and weeds be kept below 12 inches. The code applies to all areas of the property that have grass growing. (lawns, fences, perimeter, around buildings, etc…)This ordinance is not only in place to keep our community looking nice, but also meant to keep animal or rodent pest harborage down within city limits.
Junk / Unsanitary Conditions
ORDINANCE NO. 2017-03-02- Section 4 (a)
This ordinance details the types of items that would be considered “junk”. It also includes “stagnant” and “unwholesome water” being collected in vessels or pools. Abiding by this code helps keep mosquito infestations down. Keeping pools clean and free of debris helps provide a safer environment for children and pets. Items not designed for outdoor use can provide a harborage for unwanted pests such as couches and chairs not meant for outdoor use.
Construction/Remodel Without a Permit
Zoning Ordinances Section 38- Building Permits- 38.1 General Requirements
No permanent structure may be constructed or otherwise located within the city limits prior to issuance of a Building Permit by the Building Inspector. No permanent structure constructed or otherwise located within the city limits may be occupied prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy by the Building Inspector. No change in the existing conforming use of a permanent structure, or of land to a use of a different classification under this ordinance, and no change in the legally conforming use of a permanent structure or of land may take place prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy by the Building Inspector.
Junk Vehicles

This ordinance provides guidance and understanding of what a “junk vehicle” is, and why the City of Alvord enforces this ordinance. Aside from being visually unappealing, this violation invites vandalism, safety hazards, fire hazards, and financially hurts surrounding property values.
Dangerous and Substandard Structures
ORDINANCE NO. 12102009H
This ordinance describes the standards all buildings and structures must be kept to. The standards are in place to maintain a level of safety regarding life, limb, and fire hazard. Many times these properties are unoccupied or abandoned. Without maintenance and human upkeep, unwanted pest will begin to occupy the structure. Also, curious children or teenagers my explore the structure and unknowingly place themselves in danger.
