watermelon festivalAlvord Watermelon Festival

The watermelon festival is held every year in August or September. The event is held at Elm Creek Park and includes a barbecue cookoff, ice cream contest, watermelon pageant, cornhole tournament, veterans breakfast, games, food trucks, live music, silent auction and a kid’s zone.

 

Homecoming paradeAlvord High School Homecoming Parade

The homecoming Parade happens every year on the same Friday that the homecoming football game is scheduled.  Check the AISD calendar for sports events information.  The parade route starts at Alvord High School and travels north on Wickham St. and ends at Wickham St & Franklin St. Spectators are welcome to watch from many different locations along the route. GO BULLDOGS!!

 

 

fish fryAlvord Fire Department Fish Fry

The annual fish fry is held in October.  Proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to supporting the Alvord Fire Department.

 

 

 

tree lightingChristmas Tree Lighting

In early December the community is invited to come celebrate the holiday season and watch the city Christmas tree lighting.
